Digital cammera for a 5 year old

Hey Guys,

My sister wants to buy a digital cammera for her kid. She wants something cheap, but durable. Got any suggestions?

Is it for a boy or girl? I think, but am not exactly sure that they might make a Barbie one for girls. I might be wrong though.

The kiddie digi Cameras may be cheap but are terrible(640x480)...you might as well go get a disposable. I would recommend an inexpensive click and shoot 1-2MP one like Kodaks or any major brand...simple to use and good /decent quality pics as little or under $100.

Guess you don't have a five year old. You're going to cry when they playfully throw that $100 camera into a pond at the park.

A 5 year old isn't going to care about image quality. Just get one that works.

Oh gee Peeps maybe my 6 yr old daughter must be advanced... because she notices the difference on her under $100 hand me down Camera as compared to her previous Kiddie Camera

=I had to manipulate the Picture to make it come out so good as the original was just not worth posting

hehe... tell her tough, if she wants better image quality she can GET A JOB and buy her own damn digital camera

When I was 6, I had a Viewmaster and use to pretend it was a camera and the reels I'vd view were the pictures I took. Kids now-a-days have digital cameras and cell phone. My 8 year old nephew got a Connix(cp?) phone. It's like a Lego phone you put together that actually works! I wish I could be a kid again

no such thing. the 5 yr old will wind up breaking the LCD display and scratching up the lens.

Some kids around that age can be pretty careful with their stuff if they actually like it. Scratching the lens seems more likely, though.

I got a cheap digital camera for $5 after a $10MIR at office depot. It only does 640x480, but I don't think a 5 year old would care. I think it had 8MB built in.

I had a Viewmaster too! I was in Target the other day and was really surprised that they still sell them!
