which is the best bang for the buck ?

Sony is out because of the memory sticks... may go with compact cams like Nikon S1, but we need it soon and it isn't out yet.

I have a Sony Mavica and would be lost without a 10X Optical ZOOM. Look for a camera that works well in low light conditions such as fancy restaurants.

IMO Canon > Sony for digicams

SD500 if you got the $$...and remember to get a big memory card for those large files 🙂

change zoom 'x' to 35 mm equivalents and you'll get a better idea of if the lens is wide or telephoto.

i agree. my cousin has a sony and i have a canon (i dont recall what his model is but mine's a A85). when we went to the auto show, my pics came out a lot better
