Haha - same thing with the cops (transitos) in Panama - if you get stopped, they'll tell you to bring them a coke and an empanada in exchange for no ticket.

of course, if the automatic ticket machine had mentioned that you needed to buy a second ticket (6 euro) for the ride out to the airport on the subway (it seems to say you only need the 0.70 euro subway ticket, and makes no mention of another ticket) i wouldn't have needed to bribe them.

methinks its athens' version of a speedtrap.

on another note, 'euro' is a really stupid name for currency. and the notes are stupid too, with bridges and doors that don't exist.
