So I'm thinking about getting a digital camera. I can't find very much info about printing out pictures. I don't want to buy a digital camera printer or something like that. I want to know if there are any places were I could drop off my photos on a cdr or on a memory card and have them printed on normal film just like dropping off a roll of 35 mm film. Is this possible? Or would I be stuck printing out the pics myself with a digital camera.

Yes many places do that, I am not sure on where you live, but call around Places like Pro-Ex do them. I beleive they charge about 50 cents for a 4X6 photo.

Is this possible? Yes, places like "Wolf Camera" and "Ritz Camera" will do this.

Another option is a web site like snapfish you just upload your pictures and order prints and they send them to you through the mail. Prices vary from website to web site.

I will say you might rethink the Printer. All these options are Very Pricey IMO. $.50 for a 4x6 is a going rate. I recently bought a HP P1000 photo printer with the card readers built in the side for $200. Makes great pics, look as good as anything I have bought or had done on a web site plus being able to edit them before I print.

Research it a bit.

I Agree with Helz there. You might want to rethink it the printer option. Botton line is "ink" and "glossy photo paper" both are highly priced.

You can go with Generic Ink cardtridges (A LOT LESS MONEY 1/3 the price), but depending on who makes them... that could be a gamble. The paper is very expensive. And if you goof up...... Your lost that sheet of paper.... What is also a downside to doing them yourself is that fact that you gotta cut the borders yourself... a Scissers will only make the edges uneven and wavey.... You would need a cutting board to make them look professional......

but if you have the correct tools I would go the printer route, because you then save money, perhaps you wont save money at first, but once you get your system down you will be able to print them yourself for about 20 cents a print.

You can find Kodak brand photo paper on sale @ Sams all the time. Its $24 for 100 sheets, thats a quarter a 8x10 or $.09 a 4x6. My color HP ink cartiges run about $30 bucks "on sale" and I usually get over 40 full prints (11x17) (unless I print alot of one color).

So for a 4x6:

Paper => .09

Ink => .25

$.34 cents a picture, and I have control over the quality and I dont have to wait or leave the house.

:D
