Who freakin' asked you? I don't believe this is your thread, and you've yet to produce a link to anything worth a damn.

Ditto, but I got a G1 (3.3MP, first of the series- was $1,000 in 2000). 🙂

What crawled up your ass and died? I was just giving my opinion on the cameras and you get your panties in a bunch. You can find links to most of the stuff in the hot deals forum or on the wallet. My friend picked up a G3 last week for $579 shipped to his front door. You just need to shop around a little.

Man, some people jump all over you when you give your 2 cents about a camera.

I'm getting pretty damn tired of fvcktards blowing off the best bang for the buck "Prosumer" camera out there to save a measly few bucks on the damn memory. That is about the biggest disservice you can lay on some poor sap looking for real quality equipment. Unforgivable in my book...

I own an Olympus C5050Z and love it. Awesome camera.

I bought the camera off of Ebay. A lot of guys are selling the camera with extras. For $799 + ~$30 s/h, I bought what is labeled as an "ultimate" kit. It included the camera, a really nice Samsonite case, 128MB CF card, 2x barlow lens and a 0.5x barlow (telephoto and wideangle), 3 filters, cleaning kit, 2 battery chargers, and 2 sets of NIMH batteries.

I've since bought a 1GB Microdrive and additional 2000mah NIMH batteries.

Here's an example of what the camera can do
The image is not resized so it's 2.8MB.

Another vote for Sony! 🙂

I have been a VERY HAPPY Sony DSC-P9 (4mp) owner for the past 6-7 months.... The camera not only takes BEAUTIFUL pictures, but its size is unbeatable. I was able to travel all around europe with it in my pocket with no problems at all, i hardly noticed it was there.

HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!

I also have 384MB of Memory Sticks (3 of them) and i never paid more than $35 each for them.

The truth is that most people don't need all the fancy stuff on todays high end cameras. Most people want click and shoot. It all depends on who is buying the camera. I also don't like the idea that I only get 50 pictures on a 128 card. If you ever go on vacation, you will need a lot of storage. We went to Hawaii and took over 500 pictures. I don't have a labtop, so I couldn't download the pics anywhere. It all depends on the individuals need in the camera.

Sandigga needs to say what he is looking for in a camera. The G3 or Sony might be too much for him and he is wasting his money on the camera. He might be better off with a compact. Or maybe he is an amatuer photographer who would like to branch out into the digital world. All I know is that when you start adding up batteries and cards, it can get very expensive.

ive already got a compact camera, (S110).. I'm not even buying the camera, its for a ministry im involved with.. for our photographer to take pictures at all of our events... we do concerts, retreats, sports camps, road trip concerts, sending missionaries overseas, things like that...
and yes we do have laptops...

my personal choice, in order of preference:

Canon S45 / (or S40)
Canon S50 (when it comes out)
Olympus D40 / D50 (awesome package)
Nikon Coolpix 4300
Minolta F100 (nice body)
