I really like Sony cameras for some reason.

I really dislike Sony cameras for some reason: Memory stick.

only downside to it.. but if you've got a sony memory card reader its not that big a deal...

I had ordered a CP 5000 (actually 5MP). I canceled as soon as I read about its low light (lack of) performance. It is really bad in low light b/c it has a slow lens (f 3.5?). The flash is not very good either. I ended up with a Canon G2 ($410 after PM). Great camera. The G3 is about $550-650 depending on where you get it and if you PM.

Sony's are nice...but memory sticks? And nothing bigger than 256MB? Zeis lenses though...mmmmmmmm

I just like non properitary stuff. I just got a Powershot G3 and I can use the same memory card, as I'm using for my MP3 player (256MB CF card) 🙂

Fuji S602.

I have the Fuji 4900z (4.3 megapixel interpolated with a 6X optical zoom) and I love it. The S602 has 6 megapixels interpolated. My 4900z only has a 2.4 megapixel CCD, but the pixels are octagonal rather than square. That means that the camera can interpolate much more accurately, because there are 8 adjacent pixels rather than just 4. The big advantage to these cameras is the 6X optical zoom.

If you aren't looking for that kind of zoom, here is a brand new Fuji. Link I don't know anything about it though.

good point..

Fuji S602.

Meh. I don't like fuji's prints. There was a VERY noticable difference between print quality of the same image between the S602 and my G2. To be honest, I was almost ready to pull the trigger and buy the S602...that is until I actually did some print offs of pictures it took from the web. It lacks the detail of the G2.

Check out the Olympus C4000 Zoom. It's an amazing camera for the money! 4MP, 3x optical zoom, full manual controls (if you need them), great image quality, great battery life, 32meg buffer for great action shots, and lots more. Checkout www.steves-digicams.com, dpreview.com, dcresource.com, and imaging-resources.com for reviews.

I wanted a Canon G2 but couldn't afford the extra money so I got a Canon S40 on a hot deal 😀 Great camera.

I second that opinion....Memory for the sony's is outrageous compared to the Compact Flash card I use in my Canon G3

Minolta's releasing S414 soon, replacement for the S404. 4MP and 4x optical. Decent reviews at dpreview.com. No flash hot-shoe. Some auto-focus issues. A bit largish (but not for it's class). Otherwise, I love it. I think it'll be a bit cheaper than the G3, at least the S404 was about $200<G2.

Beat me to it. Sony tries an make you buy all their junk. Media cost to much, NEVER GET SONY (expect for maybe TV)

You morons would cut off your nose to spite your own face! You got a link to a camera better than the F717 for anywhere NEAR that price? And you'd forego that quality to save a few bucks on memory media? Duh! 😕

The F717 is close to $800 which is way outta my price range. I have also seen it and it is too big to carry around all day. The canon A series and S series are very nice cameras and can be had for a steal.
