digital camera suggestions?

okay, i know and understand that there are many threads that ask this same question, but i have a slightly different criteria than the rest of the threads (unless i missed some posts). and i've also checked out steves-digicams.com. i wanted something small and compact, able to fit into a pocket, about 2 megapixels, and good picture quality for around $200-300. after doing some searches i've rounded it down to the Olympus 510Z, Olympus 520Z, Olympus 230, or Fuji A201.

Any other suggestions, or praises/rants about these cams?

The last two have no optical zoom. Out of those choices, the 510/520 is probably your best bet although I'm not a fan of them.

I have a Canon PowerShot S200 which retails for $349, I'll sell it to you for $300 shipped via USPS Priority with insurance and delivery confirmation. Only took 5 pictures with it, decided that it's too small, put it back into it's box and bought a Canon A40 instead.

LMK if you are interested, it's one of THE best ultra compact digicams on the market today.

I have a canon a40 that I think fits your criteria but some people's pockets are bigger than other's. But when I was shopping around, I also found a Pentax that was smaller than either the Fuji 2100 and Canon A40. I actually didn't like it because it was too small for my hands to use. Try going to a local camera shop and play. (I ruled out half of the cameras that they sat in front of me because they just weren't confortable in my hand.)

Heard of the Casio Exilim EX-M1? Here in Malaysia it's retailing for just under RM1000 (around USD250), has no optical zoom but is very thin and about the same width and height as a credit card. Also plays MP3s and does audio recording too. Maximum resolution 1600x1200 (that 2.0 or 2.1 mpix?). This one will definitely slip into your pocket.

That Minolta DiMage X is one awsome camera, I hope one day they release a 4MP version of that camera in the same size
