Digital Camera Searching...

I've been looking for a digital camera for quite some time now. I'm wondering if anyone could suggest to me a camera in the $3-500 price range. Please post a link to a review or something as well so I can check it out myself. Thanks!

I'm not interested in movie mode at all actually, so if someone could find a more feature-filled camera (minus the video) in my price range, I'd appreciate it. I've been searching for a long time, but there's so much out there to choose from. That does look like a nice camera though, Helznicht - just not what I'm looking for.

I had bought a canon s100 coupla weeks ago. Its more of a point and shoot camera for people on the go. Its compact, fairly light, and looks cool. The pics come out really well, but the standard 8meg doesn't hold many photos. Try and get the 128mb compact flash and its much more useful. Its being discontinued so you can probably get a great deal on it. Actually, some people were getting some erroneous pricing at 199 for it (me included) but its probably more in the 350 range.

Shown, about actual size below

Where in the world did you find the $200 price on the S100? Have they fixed the mistake yet? If not, I'm very much so on my way to get that camera.

I have the Kodak DX3500 in the pcworld review and i am very happy with it.
camera price is usually around 300 and the docking station unit which i got as well is 79 plus a 32meg memory card that was around 50 at the time. That dock unit was very handy and included a rechargeable battery pack.

Take a long hard look at the Olympus C2040Z. I have the C2020Z and it's great. I have friends that have the C3000 and C3030 and just ran into a guy with a 3040 at the Porsche Concours show in Milwaukee last weekend.

Anyway.. The 2040 has a fast lens (1.8) and the user interface is pretty nice. It will also give you all the features that you need if you're into photography like shutter speed and apature control.

I think it lists for more than $500, but can be had easily for under $500 on the web.

If you want more of a P&S, I'd suggest one of the "clamshell" camera's from Olympus. It doesn't have the manual adjustment, but it's smaller and and more convenient to carry around.

So.. What exactly are your needs? Are you into photography or do you just want the smallest, easiest camera to use to take snapshots?

You'll probably need to budget between $100-$200 extra for accessories. You'll have to remember that you'll definitely need a bigger flash media card and at least one set of rechargeable batteries and a charger. It gets expensive and very wasteful to use Alkalines or the Lithium camera batteries.

I've done a lot of research on digital cameras and I've owned a few, so if you want any personal advice when you go to pick something out, just PM me.

If you want one with a really long telephoto lens, then look at the olympus c-2100uz. I just got that one, but they have a newer version of the c-2100uz called the c-700 i think. The lens isn't as good i heard.
