Digital Camera/SD card question

I Have a Kodak LS753 - 5MP digital camera.

I looking to buy an SD card and have been reading reviews on NewEgg and Amazon.

I don't plan anything fancy or to do much video.

Do I need a high speed card?

I've read that the larger your card in MBs, the slower it gets as it gets full. Is this true? If so, does it make sense to get several smaller cards rather than one big one?

I've had good luck with my Kingmax Platinum SD card. They are about as fast as you can get for the money. I don't know why they should get slower as they get full unless you have the habit of erasing single pictures instead of the whole card. I suggest always downloading all the pix from the card to your HD, check to be sure you've got them, then erase the whole card.
