Digital camera recommendation

I have a Canon S500.

I want to get another digital camera -- but since i already have the S500 which is pretty compact, i'd like to get another camera w/more features and better quality.

it doesn't have to be compact at all. But I don't want a huge digital SLR camera.

Any suggestions? I"d like to keep it under $600 or so

Thanks!

Canon S2 IS maybe? (I have the S1 IS and  it for all its features)

Edit: 12x optical zoom (10x in the case of the S1), 640x480 30fps movie mode, etc.

wow that camera looks great. 😀

got any pictrures you can show me? 😀

Panasonic DMC-FZ20
12x zoom,
image stabilization
Great quality lens
lots of features
takes great pics

Why get another point-n-shoot? Having to makes absolutely no sense. Just make the investment into a digital SLR which can function as simply as a point-n-shoot and will give you infinitely better pictures.

As was said, the Rebel XT is quite small.

why bump up this thread when i'm sure the OP has already made his decision by now?

guys, the OP posted this question 3 months ago. who knows why the thread was bumped. 😕

there are plenty of other discussions about the S2 IS like in here. also included are some links to threads and galleries taken by some of our own AT members.

I have the s1-is too, the s2 doesn't have TOO many more features, but are both within about the same price range{as far as I know.} best camera I've ever used, and I've used tons of very pricey canons.

Is it honestly worth your time to post about wasting your time? Just ignore the error. Jeezus. I do recognize that you live your life on here, and therefore it may mean more to you than it does me, but still - its just a forum thread.
