Digital Camera question

I am looking at getting a digital camera some time soon and I like some of the offerings from Olympus, Canon, and Nikon but I have one problem. My eyes are extremely sensitive to light and probably 99 times out of 100 my eyes are closed in the picture when it flashes. Now, my friend has a regular (film) Olympus camera that flashes multiple times (5 or more times) and my eyes are always open when she takes pictures with it. The multiple flashes give my eyes time to adjust to the bright light and consequently they are open. Does, anyone know of any digital cameras that have this feature? I would hate to get a camera and have my eyes closed in most of the pictures.

The only time you blink on camera is when you're in the process of blinking when the shutter goes off. I've never had the flash cause a blink- and have that blink caught in the pic.

Is that red eye reduction? I thought that was something else. Her camera is the only one that I have seen so far that does this. I will check out that Canon model though. Do you know if any other Canon models have this feature beacuse my roommate has the 1st gen digital Elph and it does not do this. At least my eyes are always closed.

Haven't used any of the other models, but I have the SD100 and it does 3 quick flashes before snapping the pic.

Well, the flash goes off before the shutter opens and therefore my eyes are closed. Seriously, about 1 ot of 100 pictures my eyes are open when I have one taken with the flash on.

Minendo: That is exacly what I am talking about. I wonder if it is a feature that you can turn on and off?

eh.. if your reaction time is really fast enough that your blink is caught on cam, just force your eyes to stay open during the pic.

It's not that big of a deal, and I've never heard of a camera that flashes "5 or more times", just to prevent a blink in a pic.

Shouldn't the flash go off at basically the same time that the shutter is open... or that would defeat the purpose of the flash? :p

yes...but theres still that short period of time where it needs to light to object before the shutter is opened :D....and that time is enough for him to close his eyes.

Yes, the time between the flash and shutter opening and closing is enough time for me to close my eyes. I do not know what it is but I have an uncanny ability for doing this. I had to get all of my senior pictures retaken due to my eyes being closed. My friend has also taken consecutive pictures of me with a camera that had a normal flash and my eyes were closed in every one.

That's interesting.. And kinda cool. ;)

But I can see how it would be annoying..

I would just work on keeping your eyes open during the flash.

My Sony P10 flashes like 5 times before it takes a picture. Red eye reduction. My P7 does too.
