I am looking for a memory stick for canon s230. I was wondering if there is any specific kind of memory that works better than the other with this camera. I know i need CF card but other than that not much since I have not recieved the camera yet. Dell has kingston 256meg CF card really cheap $48 - 20 rebate but Sandisk is little more than that around $44(no rebate). Any opinions on either one of those brands or any other brands for that matter.

thanks.

Occasionally you used to hear about incompatibility between certain camera models and CF cards, but I've not heard any for a while, and not for Sandisk/ Kingston. Both are pretty decent brands. Not the best, but pretty good - either should be good buys.

The biggest variation in CF brands is access speed - 2X, 4X up to 10X or 12X I believe.
However, I believe that you can't actually tell the difference between these cards if you are just using it in your camera, but you can if you are using a CF reader (also depends on the reader).

Check out DPReview for more.

FYI I'm using a Canon S200 with a 256mb CF card from Crucial

I have the S230 with 128MB PNY CF's worked out quite well. Viking, Kingston and Crucial are great CF memory manufactures as well.

Although after couple months of usage, I find myself prefer going with the more vivid pictures taken from my Sony F505V. :(
