Which do you see as being the most popular. I think compact flash is at the head of the pack and smart media is 2nd. What do you think????:)

I don't get that one either.

Compact flash still the most prevalent I believe.

Yea, I think CF is becoming somewhat of the standard for Digital Camera's at least......Then their is Sony's proprietary "Mem Stick," lol, that really caught on....

The reason I am asking is my brother is thinking of buying a HP 850 with a unheard of 8x optical zoom. It takes secure digital.

Most of the sweet deals here are the Compact flash then Smart media. I did do research for the best 4 meg camera but he really wants the 8x optical. He is stubborn.

Thanks for all replies and MERRY CHRISTMAS/ HAPPY HOLIDAYS:)

My perspective is from the point of view of NEW cameras.

How many cameras are coming out with smartmedia? Compact flash beat its brains in.

Secure Digital (SD) is just nice. It is marginally more expensive than CF but WAY smaller. xD is even smaller. Over time more and more VERY small digital cameras will be released which means demand for the smaller media will go up which usually means the prices will start to drop.

I even hear word of a better, smaller, SD card.
