Digital camera media types: differences?

Just doing a little thinking...a lot of deals out there right now.

I know one of the things to take into consideration when choosing between two printers of the same price is the ink cartridges it uses...mainky the cost of replacing them. What about cameras? Is the type of memory/media cards important when purchasing a camera? One is better than the other? Big cost difference?

id say that CompactFlash and smartmedia are the way to go. Lots of compatible devices, not just cameras

SD and MMC if you already have a palm pilot (the most expensive memory), and Sony Memory sticks if you already have a clie/sony vaio/other sony product.

cf = no lame protection schemes, has memory controller so ur device doesn't limit size u can buy in the future. its cheap and comes in enormous sizes.

Ok, thanks for the input guys.

Looks like it's the A40 (uses cf)...the camera of choice around here.
