digital camera for my mom!

hey, so my parents are going on a trip really soon and my dad wants to get my mom a camera for the occasion. It's been a while since i've been in the camera scene and i tend to avoid "user-friendly" cameras.....



so.. i'm helping to look for a small camera in the $200 range. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Ideal Features:
Small (not necessarily ultra-compact)
Big LCD (=>2")
easy to hold
easy menu system
some style
image stabilization

Fuji f20 will beat the performance of those cameras. You can get natural low light portraits thanks to it's excellent high ISO (up to 2000) performance which IMO is superior to image stabilization which will only stabalize the camera, not the subjects.

I really like the Panasonic Lumix models, though for just a bit more you could step up to one of their Leica-lensed models. Only prob there for you would be they're a bit larger in size (though they are quite comfortable to use). All your other requirements would be met though. Panasonic's menus are very simple to use, and their IS is also quite good (and this is a useable feature for those who are getting older).

Only downside I know is that it will suffer a bit in low light as noted. But then again, there are FEW inexpensive (ie. $200-$400) digital cameras that don't.

Casio Z70nice cam and $200, costco is selling it for $200 and i think it comes with extras like a case.

this one is a little thin but decent size

casios have the large screen's, button layout is some of the best espeically for older people and especially since the most common fuctions have buttons and rely less on on-screen menus which old ppl seem to love, and are GREAT cameras for the price.

or you can go with older casios like the Z series (the current one is the z1000 and goes for $300-400)
