Digital Camera / Compact Flash question..

I'm used to my Fuji's smart media and Sony memory stick digital cameras becomming a removable drive (new drive letter) that i can easily browse from say, acdsee (i don't use windows explorer).

i got this canon s200 that is a device under my computer but i can only access it through that.. is there a way to make it just another drive when i connect it? i hate going through that window, not being able to cut.. and not being able to paste into anything else but internet explorer.. if that makes sense..

if anyone knows a way i'd appreciate it 🙂

I have had 5 Olympus cameras with SmartMedia - and have reader/writers for that. Just got a new "prosumer" Canon D60 and I needed to read C/F. So - I hopped down and got the new Imation multi-reader/writer. It defaults to C/F or IBM Microdrive, and has C/F size adapters for S/D. S/M and Sony's stick thingy. All with one slot so you only have to deal with 1 lettered drive. Works great for all media tested. It is USB and hotplugs nicely. No drivers needed in XP.

only problem with that is i waste time taking the card in and out of the camera.. which defeats the purpose 🙂

is there any other way?

You should sell that camera to me and rid yourself of such blasphemous hardship! 😛

I wish I had the answers for you. I know the Mavica CD camera I had used a special driver and Direct CD to view the files. I would think your cam would come with some kind of software to give you options. Have you tried the Canon website for FAQs?
