Digital camera advice.

I have no clue with digital camera. What is a good one you guys were recommend? What is the best bang for buck?
Heard Sony is the brand to go with, but want to see what you guys recommend.

Gonna print pictures? How big?

I am a newbie with digital camera. I will take pics on trips and stuff to replace my old flim camara. I think 2.1 mp is enough.
Budget is $250 or less.

if you can score a nice deal on the S200, go for it.

I'd say at least make sure whatever camera you choose has an optical zoom, USB, and at least 2 megapixels. It looks like the Canon you linked to had these things.

these are pretty darn good
the A series is generally less espensive than the digital elph/ixus series. plus those two have the latest image processors from canon

the sony's are nice but memory stick costs quite a bit more than CF.

The A40 is another in Canon's line of nicely-designed, stylish, functional cameras that take great pictures. The A40 has a nice sharp lens, and excellent color rendition, with a host of features that extend to include (optional) full manual exposure control. Novice photographers can start out in fully automatic mode and gradually increase the level of control they assume over their photos, while more experienced users will enjoy the freedom of the A40's manual options. The Movie capture mode makes the A40 great for recording short clips of special events, while the Stitch-Assist mode lets you capture expansive panoramic shots. Creative color adjustments add to the camera's versatility as well. The 2.0-megapixel CCD produces good image quality, with enough detail to print images as large as 8x10 inches. If you're looking for a good entry-level camera with a range of options and excellent picture quality, you need look no further than the A40. Highly recommended.

The bottom line is that this is an excellent camera for those that just want to take good pictures without fussing with any controls, or for those that do. Turn it on, frame the shot, press the button -- you're done. And confident of a good image. Not bad at all for just $299!

Yep, canon, best purchase I've made in a few years. But now I need more HD space, a faster burner, and a semi load of blank CD's. My wife has taken over 6000 shots since we got it 3 months ago and shows no sign of slowing down. :Q :Q :Q :Q

Personally I have Canon PowerShot G2 (now being replaced by G3), and I like it a lot.

Battery life is very excellent! I bought a spare and never have to use it even when shooting more than 100 images.

Oh, get at least 128MB CF for it.
I like my 256MB Sandisk CF.

I think one of the best budet cameras is the Toshiba PDR-M25, I have one and I like it. You can find it on Ebay for about $140.
