Digital camera- AA Batteries/xD card OR lithium battery/CF card??

am in market for digital camera..

was curious...

if i had to choose between one that uses AA batteries and xD xcard (or any non compact flash card), OR, a camera that uses compact flash card and a proprietary lithium battery, which one would YOU go with?

i kinda like AA batteries (rechargeables) and CF cards-- but cant seem to find a camera that fits in shirt pocket (small/compact) that uses both...

I choose rechargable Lithium/ CF.

my fuji uses rechargable AA Ni-MH or AA Alkaline along with the XD card....

If the quality of the cameras was the same, I'd go with the AA one. The lithium could have longer life, but just in case you can't get to a recharger, you could always buy more AA batteries anywhere.

CompactFlash is a non-proprietary technology, and is the best memory card format (IMHO). xD cards are also non-proprietary (AFAIK), and I would have no problems using one, if it weren't for the money that I have already invested in CF cards. However, you will never find me recommending Sony memory sticks (or anything that uses them). Proprietary technology sucks (yes, Windows included).

I agree. But why do you think CF is the best memory card? It's certainly not the most compact type.

I agree. But why do you think CF is the best memory card? It's certainly not the most compact type.

It's best because I have already bought several, and wouldn't want to throw them away when moving to the xD format. 😉

Actually, I like CF cards because they are pretty sturdy, and they come in very large capacities (a la IBM microdrives). The latter point will be negated once xD cards start ramping up in size (I heard that they are supposed to max out at 8GB).

The Canon A60 and A70 use AA batteries and CF cards. I am looking to get one of those, and they can fit in _my_ pockets :\
