i'm planning on getting digital cable, but don't wana pay for extra box. The charter guy said that i can use the box on one tv, and connect the other cable to anther tv directly and it'll be like analog. Is this true? Is digital and analog signal the same thing except for the box?

but it'll still work, right? What i want to do is use the digital box on my computer so i can capture the high quality picture and let my parents get signal without the box on the living room tv.

Don't kid yourself.. the picture will not be high quality. AT&T's "digital" box only has composite out; the "digital" in this case only refers to the method they use of sending you the channels.

if you do that, the living room tv wont get any of the digital channels (usually those over channel 99). i say pay the extra fee and get another box for your computer. that way both outlets will get all available channels.

I'm looking into Ebay for our 2nd box, since my roommate thinks we should put our box in the living room. They're surprisingly cheap, and the biggest reason I wanted a box, was for the sound output.....I was a little disappointed when our's only came with the composite outs (I've seen them with digital outputs), but I've seen ones on Ebay with optical and/or digital coax outs, along with an s-video output.

Best part is they only go for ~$30! Normally rental is like $5 a month for an extra box, so it'll pay for itself in no time.
