Digital Cable tuner for my PC

Hey everyone, I have a question. I was planning on getting one of those ATI TV-Wonder VE cards.
However, I am pretty sure I am going to switch to Digital Cable in the next few months. That
TV tuner isn't compatable with Digital Cable right??? If not, do they make TV tuner cards
for PCs that is compatable with a Digital Cable signal?? I remember seeing a HDTV tuner card
a few months ago, but I haven't really heard of a Digital Cable card. Thanks for your help.

LoneWolf1, the Digital TV cards you linked to are for HDTV not the Digital Cable you get from your cable company although they will work with a analog feed. Meson2000, any TV tuner/capture card will work with Digital Cable source as long as you run a cable from the out on the converter box to the in on the tuner card. That way the Digital Cable channels are descrambled so you can capture or watch them.

I thought the cable company provided you with a special "Digital Receiver," and the line from that you can plug into any TV or TV Tuner card.

Am I missing something?

I mean, you do not need a special kind of TV to play Digital Cable, so why should you need a special kind of TV Tuner card?

Digital Cable is not like HDTV, which requires a speical kind of TV.

Should work with any old tv tuner, however, if you want any of the pay channels you'll still need a cable box =(

You'll need a cable box for your video card IF you want to record digital cable channels, however, every cable company that I know of simply adds the digital signal to the analog cable already coming into your house.
This means you can have digital cable in the living room, and analog cable (with or without a converter box) in the rest of the rooms. That's what I do at home since Adelphia charges $1 less per month for digital (I never watch digital and I HATE converter boxes).
Anyway, you should still be able to receive the cable company's full lineup of non pay channels on your computer, as well as on any other cable ready tv in your house. Call you cable company to confirm.
Hope that helps.

There can no legal tuner cards for digital cable that are sold independently of the cable provider.

You need the box to descramble the channels, buy home cinema movies, etc.
