Digital cable is less expensive than standard cable?

prices at time warner:
standard -- $58.30
digital -- $58.58 (or something)

about 30 cents difference.

1)they get to rent you a box
2)they get to sell you VoD services.
3)someday when the analog network shuts down they can use the bandwidth for more digital channels.

In my area standard cable (analog) is $51.99 and the digital package is $56.39.

It's cheaper for analog here by $2. I'm glad they're not forcing the switch on everyone - I don't want to use a cable box.
