(Requires a digital out (spdif) according to tigerdirect)
(I am fully aware of tigerdirect's reputation of not being one of the best customer oriented companies).

It looks like the 635 series which is analog normal retails at bestbuy for $60.00. I haven't heard any reviews though ...

I have these speakers. I got them when I purchased my first Gateway Pc like 4 years ago. The speakers are very solid. but the PSU ischessy as all hell. the male adapter at the end is very cheap. I broke mine off and tried to purchase a replacement for it because its kinda oddball (im guessing) Radioshack had it for like 40$.

/me laughed

Other then that, thats a kicka*s pair of speakers!

Now that I seen that for 20$, im gonna grab them for half the price of a new PSU and get a new set of speakers.

Thank for the inform.

Scroll down a bit on BostonAcoustics.com, and you will find the BA735.
Looks like these areGateway overstocks, since Gateway is now shipping BA735 USB, which does not require the S/PDIF connector.

And I recently wrestled with the idea of getting an Audigy, then I decided if I did that, I would need digital speakers. So I saved myself $120.00 and got a great PM deal on some Logitech Z340's at Staples. I live in an Apt, so I want good sound but don't need 5.1 since I don't have room and couldn't turn it up anyway.

Maverick,

If you look at that picture compairds to the one on TigerDirect, the 2 speakers have stands to them. The ones from TigerDirect (and the ones I got from Gateway) did not ocme with these.

Just letting ppl know incase they decide they get this item and they're completely informaed of the item.

What is the advantage to use digital speaker ?

I have SB Live Value which has 2 digital output. I am using
regular speaker. I would like to know what's the advantage to
switch to digital speaker.

Can someone explain to me ?

Thanks a lot

I have these speakers, and just so you know, you do NOT have to plug these in using the spdif connector. You can plug in an analog signal just fine, I assure you.

As for the 735 vs. 635: They are exactly the same. The 735 is the Gateway model # (gateway was the primary buyer of this line). But regardless of what it says, I promise you that you can plug this in using hte analog connector and it will work great.

You should check ebay, however. It's flooded with these, and many under $20.

I agree that these are incredibly solid speakers. I was very impressed with the sound.
