Digital audio cable lengths

I am trying to hook up my computer to my stereo- they are in two different rooms, and I want to do so with a digital connection- both the computer and amp can handle coax or optical cables. The run will be something like 50-75 feet, maybe more- I have to run the cable around the walls adding a lot of length.
Has anyone here done this?
Am I just dreaming here or can this be done with out sever signal degradation?

I do not know the limit but I reckon your needs are well within the bounds. I used about 50' coaxial meself made from RG-6 with crimp-on F connectors and F to RCA plug and mini-RCA plug mono adapters (there are crimp-on plugs of course, but this way is easily and cheaply changeable for diff'rent connectors or lengths). I also used a 90 degree adapter on the receiver end to eliminate the pressure from bending the cable. On another system with a shorter length I used RG-59 for greater physical flexibility. That is the standard for video/digital audio cables and if you actually get one pre-made for the task they can be had with costlier materials that are more physically flexible yet but the signal cannot be any better than aforementioned bog common "cable TV" cable.

I would use a digital coax cable especially if you are bending it in wall corners. Just use a nice long video cable or make ur own. It will work fine.
