Sigh, Again no mention of the sound quality of the MPU and nothing about network performance of the integrated NIC.

Just another big page full of lots of graphs showing 2-3% difference b/w the nforce and the KT266A. No review sites it seems are even interested in anything but the "performance" of the mother board.

And digit life is usually so good at looking at the other things :(

Honestly, no performance geek would really care about the on-board crap, because most the times its just crap. The reason why we are seeing so many performance oriented reviews is because almost *all* the hype around the N-Force was performance related. Hence the dissapointment :(, 2 to 3%?. KA KA!

Another STUPID reference board review, I hate them.

Wait till a REAL review is done on a actual FOR SALE mobo before making judgements, reference boards can change TONS before final release.

Well, sorry then, I am no performance geek. I think decent 6 channel sound and a half decent NIC is good enough for MY purposes and I am not going to go out and spend another $60 just to get that increment of performance. The main thing about the Nforce was NOT it's performance but how well it would work as an integrated package. Only a very small minority of people will buy an Nforce over a KT266A because of that extra 3% difference if it costs $50 more but a lot would buy it for the integrated sound/NIC becuase it actually SAVES them money.

Shalmanese, I doubt we'll see many reviews about that talk about the MPU or the integrated NIC because most sites(AnandTech included)cater to and are run by "performance geeks". If you upgrade your comp more once a year(like a lot of peole on this board do)the integrated features of the Nforce could end up costing you more money then buying a KT266A or SiS735 board and a separate sound and NIC card.

Maybe we should save judgement on the Nforce chipset till people actually start using tha damn things and launch prices settle a bit, but then again, it just may be me.

I, for one, am interested in the on-board NIC and sound, if only because I'm going to build an entirely new system the next time I upgrade.

I figure the sound should be as good or better than Audigy . . . but nobody seems to be reporting yea or nay, unfortunately.

I figure the onboard NIC should be as good as my 3COM NICs, and it will save me some dough and allow me to retire my current PC as a server/seti station.
