The Parhelia can't even run the Doom3 benchmarks. I think it's high time Matrox produced some decent drivers.

I just got finish reading it myself. Some good stuff. But BFG, who @ Matrox will build new drivers if hardly anyone is working there?

thanks for the link....man, i guess ID is sure banking on basically 75% of the market having at least a 9500 so they can get playable frame rates.

DomIII benchmarking.
When I read that the GeForce FX could only manage 50 FPS at 1280x1024, I thought that sounded awfully low. But the Radeon 9700 Pro does worse at 1024x768.

You can't make assumptions like that about R300 and It's dwarfed siblings or anyother card listed on that chart using DoomIII as a benchmark because it's an alpha based Build.

as people have mentioned on this board many times, an Alpha build is not indicative of final product performance. All that background debugging code is going to bog down any system.

Do you guys really think that ID and JC want to appeal to only the hardcorest(!?) gamers out there?

Please observe the version number of Doom III, it's v0.02.

Did anyone notice the 9500 received a 380/660 overclock? I can only imagine what the 9500 PRO series would do with such a clock speed. *salivating*

What this article suggests is that 8chips x 32 bit = 256 bit data path on this 9500.

I've been told this is complete BS, does everyone agree?

I agree that its silly to assume that 8x32bit chips = 256bit datapath. ATI designed the card - if they say its 128bit, its 128bit.

No, this is supposed to be a 9500 (non-pro) with 128MB of RAM

Because this board has 128MB, it is based on the 9700Pro PCB. Meaning 256-bit data paths traced on the board.
