Digipen...

My one friend is really hyped about getting in there and I'm a bit skeptical. He's a geek and all and has a pretty good understanding of programming but has yet to make any game. I mean he doesn't really know anything about anything, just bits and pieces in various different topics. What are the chances of him getting accepted into Digipen?

i don't know about those places.... they only teach you how to use a specific program, not the whole theory behind good films,ideas, or techniques. I have an online friend that goes to digipen, i'm not sure how he's doing though, i havent talked to him in a while

actually digipen is not one of those vocational schools where your knowldege is tightly coupled with a paticualr engine or some other paticular software.

The latest Rolling Stone has a article on Digipen. The chances of getting in is very slim.

How slim? He says he feels confident on getting in.

It's a VERY selective school, I have a friend that got in and they only take.....50 or 60 a year, I think? He's learned a LOT of stuff, and almost every student is recognized for what he does. One of the recent student game-making competitions had...3, I believe, students from DigiPen in the top 10.

He should be very glad if he gets in tho...I just hope he's ready for all the work it'll take.

Here is what he has taken in HS:
Visual Basic 1 & 2
C 1 & 2
Computer Applications
Advanced HTML
Advanced Web Design

Here is what he has taken at the local community college:
C/C++
C++ MFC

He is getting out early next year (senior year) to go to that college again. He will be taking Java 1 & 2 and some more classes. So does that up his chances?
