digicam transfer problems

Just in case any of you are digital camera super-geniuses (and I'm sure you are) I have a question for you that extensively involves win xp and distantly involves hardware. 'Sides, what is a camera if not peripheral hardware?

So I have a Sony Cybershot dsc-p50. The first x number of pictures I took were great, but since returning to my apartment, they've all been dark--much darker after being copied to the harddrive than they are on the LCD, and attempts to brighten them up in photoshop have all worked, well, hardly at all. This is the case regardless of which software I use to open the picture. The LCD light is set to normal, as is everything else to the best of my knowledge. Is this just a problem with low light or what? Anybody experience anything similar?

Thanks for your help.

If this problem started occuring out of nowhere it could be a faulty camera. See if a replacement can be made for that problem.
