digicam- canon a70 or minolta s414?

minolta costs 38.00 more (circuit city online.. 50.00 more best buy, maybe they'd price match?), 1 more megapixel, 1 more x zoom (1 less x digital zoom).. a little heavier, a smidge bigger, a better customer satisfaction rating at circuit city.. otherwise they seem pretty comparable, far as I can tell.. use the same media, same batteries..

have a circuit city coupon for 10% back on giftcard, and 10% off best buy coupons that are good starting tomorrow..

I'm leaning towards the minolta, unless anyone knows a good reason why I shouldn't?

Work.

Both are excellent digicams, I would recommend reading reviews and visit a local camera dealer.

Nothing is better than putting your hands on the camera, taking some sample pics and asking the salesperson questions.

I suck at taking pictures, ask Viper for some & yea i am! 😛.
 
i haven't used the s414, but a friend has the previous model 4megapixel version and its a nice cam and all...just takes f'ing forever between shots....i about throw it everytime i use it, just frustrating

on the other hand, i love my canon and every canon that i've used - s200 personally, used s400, g2 and a40....love them all
 
I'm gonna vote for the A70 because its what I use/have. I have not used the Minolta so its kind of a bias vote🙂
 
I just got the S414. I like it a lot but I'm no photography expert by any stretch. It can take long to store the pictures depending on what format you're using. Uncompressed takes a damn long time. It may also depend on the speed of the memory.

Do you use auto settings or manual?

Most of the time auto, I have had zero free time to learn the manual all I do is work then go to my new house and work on it.

the house is not new but new to me.😀
