Digging through my junk box and wow

I pulled out my old Alpha PAL8045. I remember when that was the best you could get in a HSF. I wonder if their coolers are still worth using, I saw they still sell them direct, but not a single review posted since about 2009 that I could find.

Another nostalgic question, is what is presently Arctic the evolution of the original Agilent Arctic Cooler which I think was the predecessor of the ThermalTake Orb coolers?

Don't think I would want to sell it, just wondering if it is still good enough for today's selection of processors.

I don't believe it would fit modern motherboards but they do have a newer model. Just a shame that Alpha isn't the big player it once was.

Hell yea I remember those. Some awesome cooling for the T-bird (AMD come back and take the lead, please!!). I remember helping a friend with a build where we used this after doing the pencil trick to unlock the CPU for uber OCing 🙂

I think that was one of my first "high-end" heatsinks. I remember how nice the round pegs looked. There was also that debate about whether the fan was better in a push or pull configuration. I think Alpha suggested a pull setup.

I look at that thing now, and it looks small. Back in the day, that was considered to be a pretty large heatsink!
