So the combination is one, two, three, four, five. That's the stupidest combination I've ever heard in my life. That's the kinda thing an idiot would have on his luggage!

Edit: My signature is now 100% AT Mod-compliant. :) See, I can follow orders. I didn't even need a direct threat.

I hope CNN gets ahold of this story. It's about time the general public was made aware that their fair use rights are getting s**t on left and right.

Mark my words. John/Jane Q. Public will care when the analog sets go dark and they attach a black box to make these new signals work with their old TV, only to find out that they are no longer allowed to record anything other than the news, PBS, and commercials.

I for one prefer to manage my own digital rights.

If confidence that the key would not be released nor able to be decoded then no big deal.

As much as I am against any pirating, the studios just aren't getting it. The black hats are smarter than you are.

The ONLY way to prevent pirating is mutual key exchange. This cannot be done with static media.

-edit-
What I mean to say is DVD players are a static state machine as is the media. There can be a mutual key exchange in such a system but there is always a trusted master/authority.

You cannot change the bits on the DVD. That's the problem.

*Edited even though I posted it before the mods said so...*

Power to open source!

Shouldn't FAIR USE imply that I can use it once I buy it? Serves 'em right...

You are correct, you posted before the warning. That is why you were given the opportunity to edit your post and were not just bounced.

Thank you,
