MSI K8N Neo Platinum (nForce3 250Gb) and the chaintech nforce3 250?
Any different ?
Gonna run it with athlon 64 3000.

and, i juz heard from Bar81 that the MSI K8N Neo Platinum has loads of problems? is it true ?

most of the problems with the k8n-neo platinum relate to its inability to properly recognize mobile/dtr processors, it should probably be fine with a desktop one.

Just from reading on here I get the impression the MSI K8N Neo has fewer problems than the Chaintech, aside from the using mobile processors thing. The K8N Neo uses the version of the Nforce 3 with built-in Gigabit Ethernet. IMO it seems like more of a "real" Nforce 3 250 board than the Chaintech one.

If you don't need all the extra frills, you may also consider the EPoX 8KDA3J. Goes for under 100 dollars on Pricewatch (no SPDIF/optical output, loose the extra SATA ports supported by the Si chip [sits on PCI bus anyway]). The MSI variant K8N Neo-FSR is similar the EPox board but it doesn't seem to be widely available for sale yet. :(
