Difficulty with 1t

I have an asus a8r-mvp - with an opt 165 and some old corsair xms3200llpt which is supposed to run 2-2-2-5 at 200mhz. I can run stable at 296 htt wich leaves my ram at 190mhz (133 mhz divider) but only with the 2t command rate. I've tried increasing voltage, loosening timings (2 -4 -3 - 8 is unfortuantely as loose as it goes) and even dropped HTT down to 290. IT will simply not work at a 1t command rate.

IS this a mobo limitation or maybe a problem with my ram, or am i doing something wrong? I think the third one is the most likely so maybe somebody can help.

thanks in advance.

btw, i have it on 1t now and am running dual prime 95 at highest priority and i can still multi task. With 2t... can't do a thing. WIndows in general moves so much faster with 1t.... i was told there was not much difference. even 2-2-2-7 and 2t is bad.
