I recently bought a built a new rig to replace my aging four year old computer and i've run into a couple issues. My other computer was alot slower than this one, but it seems to bog down less when multi-tasking. My newer computer slows to a crawl whenever i'm just burning a dvd. I have the newest drivers for everything and i'm using windows 2000. I have 3 hard drives and a dvd-burner. I was thinking it might be the onboard sound card. I have everything setup so that DMA is enable, both in the bios and win2k.
The specs:
ASUS A8N-E
Athlon 4000+ Clawhammer
2gb ram
eVGA 7800GT

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, Even Multi-Tasking can not run two jobs simutaneously. They are really time sharing. The more stuff you have running the slower the overall speed will be. Dual core or Dual processors would be much more efficient as the main processor can pass off jobs for the other processor to run. Hope this helps, Jim
