Difficulty installing WinMe on Asus p3b-f

Hey guys...

Is Asus P3b-f compatible with WinMe? When I am trying to upgrade Win98 to WinMe,
the setup program freezes at the hardware detection stage (aaaagh!). Troubleshooting with the Windows support website suggest a motherboard error.

In fact, a glance at the Windows setup.log file seems to indicate a stall at the motherboard detection stage... any ideas on what to do?

I have Me on my p3b-f. The only problem I had was a restart problem, fixed by disabling soundblaster emulation. It works perfectly now. Sorry I can't be more help.

Have you disabled the antivirus feature in the BIOS setup ?? If this is switched on than Windows has a problem whilst installing. Are you overclocking the CPU ? Set to normal speed for installing WinME.

I have a P3B-F MoBo and I have installed WinME about 5 times without a problem

I also have an Asus P3b-f. It works fine with ME. I installed with PIII 650 OC to 806.

upgrades of win98 to ME seem to cause alot of people problems! full install seems less problematic IMO.
