Difficulties registering Apple Care Warranty for a Dual G5.

Anyone here have unusual difficulties registering their Apple products via Apple Care? I was told that I had to fax or email information (did both 2 weeks ago, have separate case #'s for each) to them, and it would be handled then and there.

I was told it was impossible to do over the phone, because I purchased it through GovConnection, even though they are an Authorized Apple reseller. This sounds like total bull, since a friend registered through a non-Apple, but Apple Authorized store easily over the web.

Anyone know any workarounds? Or is Apple bullshitting me? I have this Dual 2.5GHz doorstop just sitting here right now. Motherboard fried by plugging in a flash drive... 😕

You can do it online here.

Also, if the machine is under a year old, it has a warranty in effect, so they should service it regardless of AppleCare being active or not. Also, plugging in a flash drive, and frying a motherboard may not be covered. The cause of the damage could have been done by the flash drive.

Solution? Stop buying POS computers like an Apple.

Solution? Stop trolling, noob.

What Apple is telling you about GovConnection sounds like sh!t. You should be able to register it online or over the phone with no problems.

Tried that link, but it tells me everytime that the machine is not under warranty, and to contact AppleCare. 🙁 The 90-day free period is up, and the Apple Care was purchased with the PC (still have the invoices intact, and faxed/emailed them, but nothing happens.)

The tech on the phone wasn't any help at all, and told me that he wasn't even sure what the policies are when emailing them... :/ It is a huge pain in the ass.

You get 90 days phone supprt, but 1 year hardware support standard. I would call up customer relations (I dont have the number off hand, but you can call apples main switchboard, and be transferred there), and explain your situation to them.

Customer Relations will almost bend over backwards for you if it is warranted. They replaced a laptop for me which was damaged by DHL during shipment to AppleCare, when no one (the support center, or DHL) would take responsibility. They want to keep you happy as a customer, since a happy customer is a repeat customer.

Thanks for the heads up, I am looking for the information to customer relations now.
