Differnt kind of "What kind of RAM " question

Hello,
I'm putting together a new system

MB - Abit av8 - 3rd eye
Case - Antec SLK3000b
Power - FSP Blue Storm 400W
Chip- AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 1.8 GHz (939) 90 nm
Video- BFG GeForce 6800 OC
DVD+/-RW 16x|NEC ND-3520A
Soyo BAYONE EXTREME 9/1

The problem is that all i have left to by is the memory, but my budget is pretty well taped to the limit. So here is my question.

What ram could i get by with ($100 max) that will give me decent proformence for a while, maybe 4 or 5 moths till i could save up the money to get the
CorsairTWINX1024-4400C25 / DDR-550 (XMS-4400) / 2.5-4-4-8
I really want.
I'm not going to be doing any Overclocking till I get the Corsair ram.
Also will be trying to resell the first ram i get to offset the cost of the Corsair if that makes any differece in the suggestions.
Thanks

Corsair Value Select (70 bucks per 512) is nice but I don't know how well it resells. I don't think you can get a gig of decent for less than 100.

I can't say anything against the Kingston sticks I bought. Reliable, and they run slightly better than spec (2.5-3-3-8 @ 210MHz)

A64 & cheap memory work well together. Of course not as well as some OCZ VX with a DDR Booster... but the point of that thread is that you don't needs to spend a few hundred dollars, or even $200 to get good performance. If I were you, I'd get a single stick of the RAM you intend to use now... then get another stick when you can afford it. In my opinion, that's better than buying a bunch of value RAM, then selling it at a loss later to help pay for new RAM.

Iwas under the impression that i had to have 1 stick in Dimm 1 & Dimm 2 to get the DDr to work? So i could just get 1 stick of

512 4400C25 / DDR-550 (XMS-4400) / 2.5-4-4-8

and that would work>

If so thats m,y answer.

You need two sticks to use dual memory channels. But you can use just one stick, you'll just have a single memory channel until you get a 2nd stick.

So yes, that would work just fine.
