A customer locked themselves out of a new Android tablet and I'm trying to factory reset it. The tablet is a "BestTab A20", and there seems to be very little information about it on the Internet.
I naturally tried holding down the power+volume up or down key approach but apart from it sometimes taking a good 30 seconds before showing the initial Android screen, it carries on booting the OS normally.
For the sake of sanity I tried getting one of my phones into recovery mode, a Moto G5, and holding down Power + Vol down for maybe 5-6 seconds and it was straight into recovery mode.
Can an Android device be commanded to go into recovery mode via USB? Any other ideas?
According to a manual on the Internet there's a "reset" pin hole on the side, but there's no further information about its function and I've tried incorporating that into my recovery mode style efforts, but I suspect that it's a soft reset button in the event of non-responsiveness rather than a factory reset button.
- edit - power + vol down for over 30 seconds and beyond the pretty animations after the android screen results in safe mode. I'm going to try the same with vol up, fingers crossed! - edit 2 - nope.
-edit 3 - Power + vol up + vol down, let go of power when android logo appears. Success!
