Different types of RAM. Is it worth it?

Perusing through the weekly memory prices on the site, I noticed that there is a $200 difference between PC1600 and PC2100 RAM, both DDR. What's the difference that makes it worth the extra cash? (You'll have to bear with me as I am new to the hardware arena and anxious to learn. Hope you don't mind all the stupid questions I might be posting...)

In an unrelated note, I'd like to thank everyone who steered me clear of buying a computer online. After going to resellerratings.com I am now afraid to even consider purchasing online. I'm going to try to find someone to build me one instead (and I'll undoubtedly be posting stupid questions about that, as well). Anyway, thanks!!

Well the PC1600 runs at 200MHz and the PC2100 runs at 266MHz. They are the sucessors to SDR SDRAM. Here's the deal, DDR (either PC1600 or 2100) won't really do anything for you with an Intel Platform at this time. AMD's new CPU's have a 266MHz BUS and actually see an improvement with these types of memory. I would recommend just getting a crap load of SDR SDRAM or PC1600 at best.. the 2100 is a rip at current prices...

Hope that helps !
