I see people posting that they have an Athlon XP with various versions (Barton, Claw Hammer, etc.)

What is this and how do you find out what one you have?

All I know is I have an Athlon XP 2000+

Also, what settings do I use for it in the BIOS (I am using PC2100 DDR also)?

Thanks for any info!

The easiest is to download Aida32 which will tell you detail info. about your cpu. My guess is that you have a Palomino which doesn't OC too well (compared to a thoroughbred). What bios settings are you referring to? Memory timing? Overclocking?

i sincerely doubt anyone has a claw hammer yet. to answer your question about what CPU you have, programs like SiSoft Sandra and CPU-Z should do the trick.

I guess it's the CPU/Memory Frequency. Right now it is set at 133/100. If I set it any higher, it won't post.

Aida32 says it is a Thoroughbred-A type. What is the FSB speed for this? What is the core for PC2100?
Any other settings I should set to get it run best or something else to check in Aida32?

If my memory severs me right, 2000+ runs at 1.66ghz (12.5 x 133). TBred A cpus do not overclock as high as the B type. But you should still be able to overclock some mhz out of it. Try lowering the multiplier and increase the memory fsb as your PC 2100 is designed to run at 133/266. The default configuration for your setup should be 133 for cpu and memory but you have it underclocked (in essence) since your memory is set at 100.

What do you mean by "core" for PC 2100?
