They're marketing terms, nothing more.

More valuable metals have generally represented higher limits, lower rates, and more perks.

But the terms themselves are meaningless.

it's not a new level. It's just a type. The colors have to do with your income and credit rating. Those with average are usually gold and those with super credit get plat. Diamond is likely the same with plat with some added benefits like cashback bonus etc

Color, size and shape don't matter. All that matters is what they give you such as Annual fee, credit limit and APR percentage rates...

IMHO It's all marketing gimmicks, there are only 4 levels of cc's:

Beginniners - SECURED and high risk cc's (Capital One, etc.)

Regular - Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Bronze, Classic, etc. this is what most people have in their wallet

Corporate - Big $$$ but used only for company purchases

Elite - American Express Centurion Card

LOL Do you routinely charge at least $100,000 per month and pay it all off?

I agree with The Grand NAG guy here.
It's all about inflating people's EGO if you ask me.
People always ask me what is our max that we go on CC limits whenever they apply.
I have stopped asking them what they feel and just say how about we apply for a 50K plat?
This seems to work much better, people tend to say gee I don't need that much how about we just apply for 5K?
Arghhh...I bet Grand NAG deals with this stuff all the time..heh..

Well be careful about which AE you are looking at...
Some of those I'm sure are still "DEMAND" cards.
As Grand NAG man(aka ROSSMAN) pointed out you may not have the capital available to pay off 30K a month.
:)

My uncle was offered one but declined. He used to put all his business expenses on his Amex since he was reimbursed at the end of the month. It wasn't unusual to have a bill for over $10,000 a month...
