different topics merged, why?

Why was my P&N thread about a CNN article merged with a thread about something Palin said?

* Different sources - one a political pundit, the other a national media organization
* Different viewpoints - one for political gain, the other a media-lead investigation

If you moderators are going to start merging things on loose relationship, you need to do it consistently. A brief look at P&N has many threads with loosely related topics not yet merged.
 
It was a judgment call by one Moderator not "the Mods. I would assume in the judgment of that Mod one contentious Ayers thread was more than enough. Even if I were not to agree I can understand why a decision to merge the two was made.
