Different tools read different OC speeds. Why?

This has probably been discussed before, but I couldn't find it in the forum. So, if it's really old news, I'd appreciate a link to a thread that explains it.

While on Earth do CoreTemp and Windows XP Control Panel report my overclock as 384 X 8 = 3072

instead of what my BIOS and cpu-z report, which is 340 X 8 = 2720 ?
(these last values are the ones I entered in the BIOS)

I just don`t get it. And my temps are around 50, so I better get it fast because the hsf noise is getting annoying.

Any help would be extremely appreciated

Thanks!!!

Does this silence means the question is so stupid and/or old that everybody refuses to answer, or is it because nobody really knows what's going on?

As I said, I`m very sorry if it has been discussed before, but I couldn't find it. And I would gladly read any other thread you recommended.

Please don't hate me.
