Different resolutions for dual (TV/Monitor) setup

I have the following hardware setup:
Video card: GTX 560 Ti
Primary monitor max resolution : 1920x1200
TV max resolution: 1920X1080
Using official Nvidia 296.10 drivers
The TV is connected to the PC via the HDMI port on GTX560TI.
When using "Multiple Displays" > Duplicate Displays mode, my monitors's resolutions maxes out at 1920x1080 and can't be adjusted higher. Is it possible to have the monitor be at 1920X1200 in the "Duplicate mode" ?
Is there third party software that may allow that?
 
How would that work? In duplicate mode, the screens have to be at the same resolution because it is just displaying a duplicate of the main screen. It needs to use the smaller resolution because it can't display 1920x1200 on the TV. Are you sure you don't want to extend your desktop? That way, both displays can be at their native resolutions.
 
Actually ATI has this working. I prefer to duplicate since the tv is in a different room, so extending, would make using the pc difficult.
 
I understand your pain. I ended up making the TV my primary monitor and extending the display. Then when I am done with the TV, I unplug the HDMI cord and the computer monitor goes back to being the primary display. Plug the HDMI cord back in and it will remember to set the TV to primary. Overall, kind of lame but easy work around for quick gaming in a different room.
 
If I remember, there was some way I was able to configure the card so that a larger resolution was displayed, but the extra parts were off-screen. So when my mouse got toward the edge of the screen, the entire screen would scroll.

I think it was using a GeForce 7950GTX long ago, but maybe the nvidia settings still allow that through use of an oversized resolution using GPU scaling? So in your situation, the 1920x1200 pixels would be shown on the 1920x1080 TV, but you'd have to scroll up and down on that TV to see the 'missing' 120 pixels.

Maybe on Win XP where we had panning modes with scrolling, but I don't think ATI has it working on Win 7. I can't get it working in any case apparently...
 
It looks like the best solution is to have it set for "extended desktop" and pull the HDMI cable out when I am done with the tv. If I leave the HDMI cable plugged into the card, I sometimes get momentary black screens for a second.
