Hello everyone.

First, my video cards is an ATI Radeon 9800 PRO with both a VGA connection and a DVI connection.
I have a 17 inch lcd monitor that is hooked up via a VGA cable. My 32 inch LCD TV I also have hooked up via my DVI cable. So I have two display monitors, my tv and my pc monitor hooked up to my video card at the same time.

What im looking to do is to clone my desktop onto both my monitor and my lcd tv at TWO DIFFERENT resoluations. 1280 x 1024 for my PC and 1280 x 768 for my LCD TV. I prefer to do this at the same time on both display monitors. I guess my main question is if I can do this or not? I have tried and all I can get is 1280 x 1024 on both displays, which leaves two huge black bars on the right and left side of my LCD TV. I have messed around with this for quite a few hours now and I cannot figure out how to do it. I have also used the program Powerstrip and I can't get it to work the way I want.

So I was just wondering if you guys had any ideas for me regarding this situation.

I am always around on aim at JPiLLa02 or jpilla00@hotmail.com on MSN if you guys can help me out.

thanks.

You can show different resolutions on the two displays if you are extending the Desktop across the two screens (i.e. each screen shows half of the desktop) but if you are cloning the display (showing the same information on both screens) then the resolution of both screens will need to be set the same. So, you will either need to have the black bars on the sides of the TV using 1280x1024 resolution or have the desktop display 'stretched' at 1280x768 so that the picture will fit the TV if you want to have the same picture on both screens.

Think about it, if you had your tv at 1280x768 but cloned of your desktop at 1280x1024, when you went down to the bottom/up to the top of your desktop, it would disappear off the tv. That probably isn't an issue in this case, but people who want to clone their desktop probably want to see it all. Still, there should be an option I guess, so it's up to you. meh, have a rant, it probably won't change.

ok thanks a lot guys....this is exactly what i figured. So I guess I will have to use a hotkey or something so that I can change my resoluation from 1280 x 1024 to 1280 x 768 when i want to use the TV.
