different power phases on same card, different mfg?

Ok so one brand uses a 5 +2 power phase on its 7950 and uses two 6 pin pcie connectors to power its code card.

Another brand uses a 4 + 1 + 2 power phase on its 7950 and uses one 8 pin pcie and one 6 pin pcie connector to power its video card.

Is one really better than the other, or does it even matter.

Just so I can check it out to see exactly what you are talking about, can you link to the two cards you are comparing, please?
