Different name brand memory effecting O/C?

I have a 1.6a northwood overclocked to 155fsb on an Asus P4B533, running fine and stable for the last year with corsair 2700 512ddr cas3 at a memory ratio of 1:1. There was recent sale in Mushkin ram and I decided to double my memory performance, the system was running smoothly with the newly implanted memory and then 5 minutes into playing Splinter Cell I froze up. Frustrated I tried again and it froze again, there were obvious memory problems as it didn't save my latest saved game. I upped the voltage to no avail, I hampered with the ratio to no avail. So ultimately is the Mushkin ram bad, are my settings messed up, or do they just not work well together?

I am by no means an overclocker, but from what I have read, it seems that RAM should be as close to matching in specs or it may cause instable overclocks. At least that is what I believe to be the case.

Apparently I can't use two sticks of ram in a P4B533, how come? Should I just upgrade to a 2.4B or 2.53B? In what kind of setup can I get a great overclock and have over 1 gig of ram?
