Different memorytypes on the same mobo?

Hi, I have a Asus A7N266-VM with a Duron 1300 and 256 MB PC2100 DDR right now and I'm thinking of upgrading it a bit. More precisely I'm thinking about getting an Athlon XP 2100+ and another 256MB ram.
Two questions, the first one about the CPU: As I can tell from Asus home page my mobo should handle the 2100+ just fine, and I don't really have any reason not to believe them. But just to be sure, is there anyone who think it will not work?
And the other question: Would it work if I got a PC2700 stick and put on the mobo together with my current PC2100? Asus says the motherboard works with PC1600 and PC2100, but will a PC2700 work (just "slowing down" to PC2100) or should I just buy another PC2100 (even though it's slightly more expensive)?

Thank's in advance,
Henrik

These aren't different types, just different speed grades of the same stuff. Since SDRAM (SDR or DDR) doesn't mind being run at a slower speed than its rated maximum, you can mix PC2100 and PC2700 RAM. Just make sure you run it at the slowest combined set of parameters - like when you have PC2100 CL2 and PC2700 CL3, then run at PC2100 CL3.

but most of the time you can get away with running pc2700 cas3 at pc2100 cas2
try it out and check with memtest86 if there are any errors
