Different download speed on 2 networked computers

I am using SW DSL connection. I just networked 2 computers with Netgear RT314 router.
Now the problem is..The internet connection speed of one computer is higher than the other. I tested my speed using tools from dslreports.com
Also the latency of both computers are different.
Can anyone there tell me why this is happening?

How different? Are you running the tests at the same time? What OS's? Win2k out of the box is more "tweaked" than 9x.
