Different company needs and outgoing mail server.

They have web hosting and incoming e-mail and are perfectly happy with it. Problem is they have Verizon dsl and their outgoing mail server sucks the big one. Any companies offer just an outgoing mail server? It can be a secure or regular password authentification.
Thanks.

How about just IIS on Windows 2K? IIS includes a simple SMTP server that will send mail quite well.

Hmm two questions about IIS. Will other companies accept mail from an ip adress that is just some verizon.net ip?
Second, isn't using IIS risky with all the bug patches that regularly come out for it?

Linux? Or iMail is cheap... Fairly stable and secure too. I set 2 companies up with it on NT 4.0. Worked well.

Most will, you may occasionally run into problems but it will be (for the most part) rare.

Install IIS and make sure that the only component you have installed is SMTP, most of the exploits are for the HTTP or WebDav components of IIS. And of course that's why you would want to patch it reguarily...

What are they using as a mail server? Doesn't it have sending capabilities?

Yeah it's verizon dsl's mail server but it sucks the big one. Very slow. They've sent mail to another person in the office and had it take a day.

DurocShark, iMail starts at $495.00. They won't go for that. :(
Linux box is probably going to cost about the same and needs to always be patched making it even more expensive.

I'll have to look into the SMTP on IIS but I'd still prefer some webhosting company that offers sendmail services. :/
