Yeah, I know, been discussed for like three years now, but I'm just now thinking about getting a second 7800 after I do a DFI Ultra-D mod.

I currently have a BFG 7800 GT flashed to a modified XFX 1.5v bios (480/1.2 speeds). I know the cards have to match, but isn't that a matter of the BIOS on the cards? That is, couldn't you buy any two 7800s and flash them to a "common" BIOS and run them in SLI?

I'm thinking of getting an XFX 7800 GT to go with the BFG (with XFX bios). Would that work, or do I need to get another BFG 7800?

Please correct me if I am wrong, or feel free to give advise on adding a second card. I'm not rich so I need to know what I'm doing before I buy.

Thanks.

I had a KN1 when it first came out. I loved that board. It was so fast right out of the box, but it was defective. I couldn't run a PCI-E card on it AND my sound card (audigy 2z) - no video signal. I tried everything, even getting a 24-pin Antec 550 psu. Popped a pci card in and it worked fine, but when I put the PCI-E card back in no video signal, so I finally had to RMA it and went with a DFI - very excellent, but picky, picky, picky about RAM!!! It was either that or go with on board sound.

Anyway, any one here using SLI with two different video cards?
